In the car on the way to the airport! |
On June 25th 2016 I managed to check off another of my 40 by 40 goals which was to take a family holiday back to Salou.
I and DJ first visited Salou in 2002 for our honeymoon and we just fell in love with the place! We took the older girls a few times over the years, but the last time we had visited as a whole family FJ was only four months old. This is why I added this goal to my 40 by 40 list as it was really important to me that we got to holiday there before the older girls left home so that FJ could experience the fun family times that the rest of us have all done before.
The flight

We flew from Stansted airport and the flight is only just over two hours. We are all ok with flying apart from CJ who often gets problems with her ears. Of course, we did not know how FJ would be on the plane as the last time she flew she was just a baby. Thankfully she was absolutely fine and enjoyed using the travel bag which I had made to keep her entertained.

CJ did much better with her ears now that she was older too so we had a good flight.
The Accommodation
which is a small town next to Salou which is quieter than Salou so perfect for families.
The hotel is superb value, I can not recommend it enough and in fact, I will be writing a review of the hotel very soon so keep your eyes peeled for that! We stayed for seven nights, all-inclusive and enjoyed every minute.
We had so much fun making use of the pool, the free kid's clubs, the nighttime entertainment and the rooftop terrace.
Salou town.
We also ventured into Salou town a couple of times where we enjoyed shopping, walks along the beach, visits to the beautiful water fountains, bingo in one of the English bars and the girls all got their hair platted by one of the street vendors who can do all sorts of braids for a few euros.
We all had a fantastic time away and I know that I definitely did not want to come home! For those of you who are not familiar with Salou, I will be writing a more detailed post on the town and what attractions and amenities they have there soon.
Do you have a favourite family holiday destination? If you have enjoyed this post then please do leave a comment, I would love to hear from you.
We don't have a favorite holiday vacation spot because we are always going to visit family. We need to change that.
ReplyDeleteYes, it is nice to visit family but also nice to have your own favourite holiday locations for those special memories :-)
DeleteLooks absolutely perfect :) I’m very jealous! We love France go every summer in the caravan. I would move there but the kids wouldn’t be to impressed! #dreamteam
ReplyDeleteFrance is beautiful too :-)
DeleteLooks like you had an amazing time. I holidayed in Salou back in 2002 with my husband (before we had kids). Would love to go back again with our two. Great that you made a 40 by 40 list. I wanted to before I turned 40 last year but never got round to doing it!
ReplyDeleteWe did, it was so lovely. You should do a 50 by 50 list!
DeleteIt sounds like a lovely trip. Great idea to do 40 by 40. Thanks for joining the #DreamTeam this week
