Adventures at the dog park

I say local, but it is actually the only proper dog park which we have in our town and it is located at the opposite end of the town to where we live, so the boys do not get to go as often as they would like.

It is properly enclosed so that dogs can go off their leads without owners worrying that their beloved pooches will be running out across the roads, has a couple of benches at the back for owners to sit and have a rest, a track around the outside of the park for people to walk around and a large grassed area in the middle of the track for the dogs to run and play together.

As our boys are not great at following our instructions, we do not let them off the lead when we are out unless we are at the dog park. It is so lovely for them running free and playing with other dogs which is great for their socialisation skills and both me and DJ love watching them play and have fun, it really brightens the soul.

It is also nice to meet other owners, everyone is very friendly and it is nice to meet everyone's dogs, you really do see all shapes and sizes!

I wish that there were more proper dog parks in our town, as they would not cost our council very much money to adapt a part of the parks which we already have and they would bring so much joy to so many people in our local community. This is especially true for people who live alone with their dogs, as having a place to go to regularly walk their dogs would mean that they would start to see the same people at regular times, helping them to build up friendships and local connections, which is so important in any community.

Does your local area have any proper dog parks that you know of? I would love to know how common they are within the UK.
